Hello everyone!! How are you? Alhamdullilah! I am proud to announce another good news to you all about the ever-increasing restaurants dedicated to serving Muslim friendly dishes. Route 227s’ Cafe (ルート227カフェ) by Hummingbird joined this wagon as well. It is a few steps away from the Kotodai Park Station around the city hall neighborhood in Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture.

The cafe was opened in August 2019, but most recently, the cafe started to serve Muslim friendly menu. Route 227s’ Cafe is a restaurant that conveys the charm of Tohoku’s 227 municipalities. It aims to share deep insights about Tohoku – its richness in tradition, culture, and nature, as well as providing food that uses local specialties in luxury yet at an affordable price. Here, you can enjoy the food and drinks entwined with ingredients from the 227 local municipalities of the 6 prefectures in the Tohoku region. It also brings a platter full of convenience with its flexibility with eat-in and takeout options until 10:00 PM. Now, let’s go to the menu: The Muslim friendly menu that the cafe decided to serve is 宮城県産牡蠣と仙台せりの胡麻油ペペロンチーノ or “Miyagi Oyster and Sendai Parsley in Sesame Oil Peperoncino Pasta”.

Spaghetti is made with alcohol-free ingredients, a rare find in Japan. Additionally, the chef uses Halal certified oyster sauce for the base of the spaghetti. Muslims now can enjoy the taste of Sanriku coast oysters and Sendai parsley which is a signature product of Sendai city in a delicious pasta with peace of mind. There is also a Muslim-friendly duck meat menu. The duck meat served is halal certified with JAKIM halal certification. Please kindly ask the store about the duck meat dishes and other Muslim friendly menus. No prior reservation is required for Muslim friendly menus, adding more to the convenience and flexibility. It’s an excellent idea to spend a relaxing time inside the cafe, but with the flexibility of the take-out option, the leisure time can be enjoyed with the peaceful nature of Kotodai Park.
