Alhamdulillah, We love to share the great news about a newly open Masjid in Japan: Fuji Kawaguchiko Masjid. The masjid is located right in front of Lake Kawaguchiko, one of the top tourist destinations in Japan.
Lake Kawaguchiko (河口湖)
Lake Kawaguchiko in Yamanashi prefecture is one of the Fuji five lakes. The lakes formed as a result of the Mount Fuji eruption in ancient times. Lies in the northern base of Mount Fuji right beneath Mount Fuji, Lake Kawaguchiko is the easiest to access from Tokyo. It provides you with a close view of mount fuji.
Lake Kawaguchiko perfectly portrays the definition of ‘when nature with culture’. The surrounding area inspired many artists with its stunning views while the outdoor and indoor activities attract both domestic and international tourists, including Us! Moslem travelers. But it can be hard to find a place to pray, not to mention the struggle to find halal/Muslim friendly food in the area. But worry no more because since last month a new Masjid opens its door for us.
Fuji Kawaguchiko Masjid
The Masjid first open for prayers on November 8th, 2020. From the structure of the building, you can immediately realize it used to be an Inn before it becoming a Masjid. This benefit us with a spacious praying area and vast number of wudhu area. The praying area can hold dozens of prayers.
One thing we love about the Masjid is how strategic the location and how easy it is to be accessed. One full trip circling around the Lake took us in about 18 km trip, with an interesting destination just a stone’s throw away. The location of the masjid can be considered as the ‘welcome gate’ of the touristic area.
And we are so glad when we heard soon there will be halal cafe inside the premises as well. We can not wait to try it!
If you happen to visit Lake Kawaguchiko in your next Japan trip, do not forget to come to Fuji Kawaguchiko Masjid 🙂
