Fukuoka city is the capital of Fukuoka Prefecture in Kyushu Island, the third-largest island in Japan. As of 2015, Fukuoka city is the 6th largest city in Japan. Fukuoka attracts quite large numbers of tourists every year, with the number exceed 2 million visitors annually. The main attraction of Fukuoka is the Fukuoka castle, The Marine Park Uminonakamichi, and Canal City Hakata. Fukuoka is also famous for its local foods. 

Fukuoka Masjid Al Nour

Fukuoka Masjid Al Nour is the oldest Mosque built in Kyushu island. Their history dated back to 1998 when the Moslem student enrolled in Fukuoka University initiated the establishment of Fukuoka Islamic Center (FIC), which registered as “Kyushu Islamic Cultural Center Kyushu” (ICCKyu for short) in 2004. They then began the fundraising to built their first Masjid on the island. Alhamdulillah in 2009, the Fukuoka Masjid Al Nour opened its door for Moslem and also Japanese who have an interest in Islamic culture.

       

Masjid Activities: Bridging and Bringing the Light to Fukuoka Community

The main purpose of Fukuoka Masjid is to serve the best interests of Islam and Muslims in the Kyushu Area. The Masjid arrange and hold congregational prayers and Islamic religious activities. Aside from that, they also made easy-to-understand information about Islam for Japanese. Many activities that can be attended by Moslem and Japanese also held in this Masjid, such as weekend Arabic language lessons, halal food cooking classes, seminars and dialogue sessions occasionally. Living up to their name “Al Nour” which means “the Light” by giving a light about Islam to the Japanese community.
