MUJI- a Japanese well-known household and consumer goods retailer, now serves ready-to-eat halal-certified curry on their shelves!!
MUJI Halal Curry
MUJI is famous for its minimalist concept of household items. Their clean and neat design received worldwide recognition. Aside from the sleek looking product, we can also find varieties of foods and snacks in Muji stores. There were cookies, prepackaged foods, tea, and other beverages. All of them look so tasty and calling us to check them out. Unfortunately, most of them did not comply with our halal diet. Until recently they start selling halal curry produced by Brahim’s Food Japan. Currently, there are three curry variants available: Malaysian Chicken Curry, Chicken Masak Lemak, Beef Rendang. It received halal certification from JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia).
The packaging design is in line with the MUJI concept. It can easily mistake it for a household good! You could easily find the halal curry side by side with other MUJI’s curry variants in MUJI offline stores. They usually put ‘halal’ stickers on the front side of the shelves. It is also available for sale in MUJI online store.
How does it taste?
Now let’s move on to the verdict. Each variety comes with a different spiciness level. From level two to level four. Beef rendang is the least spicy and Malaysian chicken is the spiciest one. I believe for those who like spicy food, you will have no problem with that at all. One single-serve pack cost you 490 JPY(chicken menus) and 690 JPY (beef rendang). We tried all three variants and our favorite is the Malaysian chicken.
It is so easy to prepare. You can boil it in water, or put in a bowl and heat it up using a microwave. So easy that it can be your next go-to comfort food. Or you can bring it to your next trip, just in case you can not find halal restaurants nearby. We will definitely do that!
