Indonesia restaurant in Kesennuma: Warung Mahal

Since there is a lot of Indonesian in Kesennuma and remembering the close relationship with Indonesia, we are not surprised when there is a newly opened Indonesian food restaurant in Kesennuma. The name of the restaurant ‘Warung Mahal’ is coming from the Indonesian Language which means ‘expensive restaurant’. But do not worry, despite the name, the prices are in facts quite affordable and reasonable. The name of ‘Warung Mahal’ actually a contraction of ‘Warung MAkan HALal’ which also Indonesian language of ‘Halal Food Restaurant’. So its actually a pun of Indonesian Language. And YES, the restaurant does serve Halal-based food. They do not have Halal certification yet, but it is guaranteed they only use halal-ingredients and halal cooking process. So we can enjoy their Indonesian cuisine at ease. They serve several Indonesian main dishes such as Nasi Goreng (Indonesian style Fried Rice), Mie Bakso (Indonesian meatball with noodles), and Mie Ayam (Indonesian soup noodles with chicken topping); as well as Indonesian desserts like Pisang Goreng (Fried Banana). You can see all of their offered menus here.

Nearby Mushalla: Ar Raudhah

Just next to Warung Mahal, there is a newly opened mushalla ‘Ar Raudhah’. The mushalla just opened its door on August 11th, 2019. Due to the increasing numbers of Indonesian (Muslim) workers in Kesennuma, one of the company owners there decided to make a prayer space for a Muslim living in Kesennuma. Hopefully, the praying space could accommodate the need of the growing number of Muslim in Kesennuma area.
