1000 Sakura at a Glance: The Masterpiece
Located around Shibata and Ogawara Town, 30 minutes by train from Sendai, around 1,200 Sakura trees (8 km long) Hitome Senbonzakura is ready to attract around 300,000 visitors each year. In this place, the amazing line up of Sakura trees in a side of Shiroishi river and Zao mountain in the background will blow your mind. No wonder if this place is including in the renowned spot for Sakura spot in Japan, especially Tohoku Region.
Sakura is blooming around mid to the end of April and what we suggest you do is to stroll along the riverside while enjoying the Sakura view, take a slop car to Funaoka Castle Ruin, have a picnic and “train watching” in dedicated bridge close to the area.
Muslim Friendly Service
For a Muslim visitor, of course, enjoying Sakura won’t be Finish in just one hour. One time, I went there and spent about 7 hours (hundreds pictures, 1 picnic and got lost). And of course, when the prayer time comes, we should rush to do it. Alhamdullilah, around the area of this beautiful city there is Prayer Room dedicated for Muslim visitor, special for Sakura season. This indicates that there are many Muslim visitors visit the area and I couldn’t agree more.
Harakara Fukushukai (Harakara Social Welfare Association) Lend Prayer Room for Muslim
We visited “Harakara Social Welfare Association” in Shibata-Machi, this association has a noble goal, which is focusing their activity on supporting people with disabilities in order to be accepted in a social environment, their management facility also decided to lend one of their room as prayer room for Muslim visitor during Hanami (Sakura Viewing) season. Not only provide the prayer room for free, but Harakara also produces Muslim friendly bread, Okara pan, that made by using only Muslim friendly ingredients.
