Japanese Cherry Blossom or Sakura ( 櫻; さくら) is one of the major tourist attractions in Japan. The designated national flowers have a strong correlation to Japanese culture and often embodied in many forms: poet, songs, movies, kimono, etc. The 100 yen coins and TokyoPaIt is also part of their tradition to enjoy the peak of Sakura blossoming season by having a picnic under the Sakura tree, called Hanami. Hanami (花見), literally means flower viewing, is a tradition that started from the Nara period and becomes associated with Sakura viewing since the Heian period (794–1185). The tradition preserves until today, people gather and having social events under the Cherry Blossom tree. Aside from a picnic, you can spot a lot of cherry blossom festivals in major tourist destinations all over Japan, including in Miyagi prefecture.
Due to current situations related to COVID-19, unfortunately, this year we can not enjoy Hanami this year. But do not worry, the sakura will come again for us next year. 1,200 Sakura trees lined up in Shiroishi riverbanks looks stunning. Sakura, river, and mountains view truly portray the beauty of Japan.

The park only a few minutes from the Shiroishi river, this park offers a bird view of the lined up Sakura. The cute slope train going trough a Sakura ‘tunnel’ also a must-try-attraction here.

Located in the Sendai downtown area, Tohoku University is one of the top-notch universities in Japan. In the Katahira campus you could find one of the oldest Sakura tree. Strolling around the academic facilities feels indifferent than any other park.

The park tucked in the middle of Hachiman residential area. It as a relaxing ambiance with a small pond and weeping cherry blossom, perfect for your quiet evening.

This park is one of the most favorite places to adoring Spring and Sakura in Sendai. It located in the center of Sendai city, easy to access by foot from JR Sendai station.
