{INTRODUCTION TO KOBE MOSQUE}
Assalamualaikum,
Kobe is the first city in Japan that accepted the construction of the Mosque this made Kobe Mosque as the first Mosque built in Japan,
Since October 1935 to these days it sill stand strong in the heart of Kobe City.
Built-in 1935 by Czech Jan Josef Svagr who was a renowned architect for making religious building, he designed around 21 building during his stay in Japan and one of them was The Kobe Muslim Mosque, later he moved to Latin America due to the war in 1941.
The Mosque itself is a three-storied building built in Traditional Turkish design the mosque Ground Floor use as the main prayer hall and corridor hall (for library, offices and Imam Office). There are traces of doors between the main hall and corridor which can provide more spaces for prayers. Player hall is a square plan, faces to West with Mihrab and Minbar which decorated white marbles and extravagant chandeliers. First Floor has a smaller prayer hall where mainly use as a female prayer space. Second Floor has a large prayer hall and Interior is the same as the main prayer hall and the rest of the area. The ornaments are beautifully designed with a proper rule of Islam.

I The Gate of GOD I
Kobe becomes the first city to embrace the approval of the mosque to build inside its city, Kobe (神戸) itself means the Gate of GOD. It might look coincidences for Non-Muslim but for Muslim as mention in Quran 6:59
“And with Him are the keys of the unseen; none knows them except Him. And He knows what is on the land and in the sea. Not a leaf falls but that He knows it. And no grain is there within the darknesses of the earth and no moist or dry [thing] but that it is [written] in a clear record”
There are nothing coincidences in the Muslim faith, ALLAH has put HIS decreed that First Mosque built in Japan located in the city known as “The Gate of GOD”
I The Mosque Survived The Air Raids in World War 1945 I
After the Pearl Harbor tragedy, USA decided to pay back to Japan and sent the Bomb atom (well known ) in Hiroshima and Nagasaki but little known that the rest of Japan also suffered from Air Raids and one of them is Kobe City. The mosque as well cannot avoid this event to take place BUT whereas many of the building surrounding the mosque was demolished by the bomb, There were only cracks on the outer walls of the mosque and the glass windows were broken.
I As a Place of Refuge during The War I
The soldiers took refuge inside Kobe Mosque during the war and many people believed that the soldiers who were in the basement of the mosque were the ones who survived the bombings, not only the soldiers but the victim of the war also used Kobe Mosque as a place of refuge.
I The Mosque Endured the Great Hanshin Earthquake in 1995 I
Up to 6,434 people lost their lives in this great earthquake. This was one of Japan’s worst earthquake in the 20th century when we asked the staff of the mosque, the staff said that this mosque did not have major damage during the earthquake. Kobe Mosque is still standing upright
