Coco Ichibanya is famous Japanese curry chain restaurant that holds Guinness World Record, yupp.. that is true, the restaurant has the title as largest curry chain restaurants. There are more than 1000 stores in Japan, and more than 100 worldwide.
But in Japan, there are ONLY 2 Coco Ichibanya stores that acquired Halal certification, Halal Curry Coco Ichibanya Shinjuku Kabukicho Store and Halal Curry Coco Ichibanya Akihabara Store (until this post is published), the halal certification given by NAHA (Nippon Asia Halal Association).
⌈Halal Coco Ichibanya Akihabara⌋
The halal coco Ichibanya Akihabara located around 4 minutes by walk from JR Akihabara station, it has a very convenient location. The place is smaller compared to the Halal Coco Ichibanya Shinjuku Kabukicho store. There is only a counter style seat and not recommended for a big group, but there is “take out” option, so if you are in a rush, that will be a very good choice.
When we visited the store, there are so many Muslim lining up and finally, after about 1-hour waiting, we can enter the store and order the curry. The menu is the same as the one in Shinjuku Kabukicho and my favorite is still the same “Chicken Cutlet and Chicken Tender Curry”
You can choose the rice size, topping, spiciness etc. My top recommendation is to have regular rice size with level 5 of spiciness and cheese topping, Yummyyy….
The curry was so delicious, love the crunchy chicken cutlet in the outside and juicy in the inside. Definitely will come again when I visit Akihabara.
*Since there are only 2 stores that acquired Halal Certification. We recommend you to eat ONLY HALAL COCO ICHIBANYA,
*Regular Coco Ichibanya stores in Japan are not Halal and they are using pork as well, please be aware for Muslim customer.
