Akita, Beautiful place in deep north of Japan. Has a lot to offer, amazing view in a quiet relaxing atmosphere is something that you want to experience after long tiring work days. Alhamdullilah after searching for many places that fit with the need of a Muslim, finally I found this comfy Ryokan (Japanese Traditional Inn) complete with private onsen (Hot Spring) and Muslim friendly meal. I will share with you guys my personal experience in this Ryokan
- A quiet Beautiful Place With Relaxing Atmosphere
Sawarabi Ryokan located in a Secluded hot spring in a gorge, far from the crowds of the city and in this place I actually can fully relax and enjoy time with my family. I understand that traveling to Japan is all about Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto but if you want to see Japan from the other side, going to Akita definitely is a must. Akita itself is one of Tohoku (North East Japan) prefecture that famous with stunning natural beauty.
- Muslim Friendly Hotspring (Onsen)
One of the things to try in Japan is Onsen, Japan is blessed with the abundant hot springs throughout the country,
it is one of the Japanese cultures to go to hot spring since childhood, but somehow it becomes problem for Muslims who want to try hot spring, In Japan to enter a hot spring everyone has to take off their clothes in gender-separated or mixed gender hot spring, this is contradictory to Islamic rules, where every Muslim have the boundaries (Aurah) that need to be protected. Therefore, for Muslims customer, it is better to choose lodging that has private onsen that can be booked for families (Mahram) only.
Alhamdullilah, at Sawarabi there is a hot spring that can be reserved privately. Since I stayed in this hotel, the private host spring was free of charge.
- Muslim Friendly Meals
After soaking in gentle hot spring water early in the morning, now we are ready for breakfast. The Ryokan Alhamdullilah can provide Muslim friendly meal upon request. Just make sure to tell them again what you can or can not eat, for the final check.
We have this beautiful Japanese traditional meal set complete with vegetables, fruits, fish, eggs, unlimited milk, and coffee. The dish was great and delicious, healthy and refreshing.
