Cabe restaurant

‘Cabe’ means ‘chili’ in the Indonesian language, which a good representative of what they served here: Indonesian food. A lot of Indonesian food uses spices including chili as the condiment. The owner, Ohira Masaki, is a very friendly man that loves Indonesia. He opened the first ‘Cabe’ restaurant 17 years ago, back in 2002 in Musashi Koyama. 2 years after that, in 2004, he opened the ‘Cabe restaurant in Meguro.

Once we enter the cabe restaurant, we really feel the touch of Indonesia. The restaurant decorated with Indonesian ornament. You can spot Indonesian leather puppet (wayang kulit) and even the Indonesian-stye-cart (gerobak). They also playing Indonesian songs in the restaurant. They also bring true Indonesia through the people. All the culinary team is Indonesian as well as our attending waitress.

Muslim-friendly Indonesian restaurant

All the foods served in the Cabe restaurant are made using halal ingredients and halal-certified beef. There is a wide variety of Indonesian food served here, from finger-food starters, main dishes, desserts, and beverages. We could not help but order a lot from their menus. All of their food taste just like authentic Indonesian food. Needless to say, this is the best Indonesian restaurant I ever try in Japan.

Cabe Meguro is quite famous for Indonesians and Japanese as well. It is located near the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, or about 5 minutes walks from Meguro station. I noticed a lot of people came here after visiting the Embassy, whether its Indonesian or Japanese. You might overhear people beside you remembering the happy memories of their trip to Indonesia while enjoying Indonesian food once again. Even if this is your first time to try Indonesian food, just ask the waitress there, they will help you to choose the menu 🙂

Trust me, Cabe Meguro is definitely worth to try!
